Reading trainer

Terms of service

Last updated: a placeholder date — set this when you publish. This is a plain-language draft, not a substitute for review by a lawyer qualified in your jurisdiction before real launch.

Agreement

These terms are between you and [operator name] (“we,” “us”), who operates Reading Trainer. Using the app means you agree to them. If you don't, don't use it.

The service

Reading Trainer measures and trains reading comprehension and speed. It is under active development: features, passages, and the metrics themselves may change, and we make no promise that any specific feature will keep working or stay free. See our privacy policy for what we do with your data.

Accounts

Signing in uses a one-time link sent to your email, not a password. Keep access to that inbox secure — anyone who can read your sign-in email can sign in as you. You're responsible for activity under your account. You can export or permanently delete your account and all its data at any time from the account page.

Acceptable use

Use the app for reading practice. Don't scrape or systematically copy the passage library or question bank, try to disrupt the service, or use it to violate someone else's rights. We can suspend or terminate an account that does any of this.

Passage content

Passages are drawn from public domain and openly licensed sources, with attribution recorded for each one; some carry share-alike or attribution obligations of their own. They're provided for your personal reading practice, not for republication.

No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. Comprehension scores and reading-rate figures are measurements, not a guarantee of improvement or of any particular outcome. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Termination

You can stop using the app or delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend or terminate access for a violation of these terms, or discontinue the service, with notice where we reasonably can give it.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for a material change, tell you directly. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
